Just 6 months into the job, Mike’s leadership skills and strong work ethic led him to a position as a uniformed officer. He was promoted to the detective division a year later. In 1980, Mike Deal became the youngest Police Chief to serve in the State of Georgia at the time.
After serving as Police Chief for 14 years, Mike took the position of City Manager in 1994. He spent 12 years managing and leading the city. After leaving his position of City Manager and serving as County Administrator for 5 years, Mike returned to the position as City Manager in 2012.
Mike plans to continue to work with all the local agencies, volunteer agencies and local boards to create a unifying relationship that best serves everyone in the community.
Mike is the husband of Suzanne, father to Miki and Chad, and grandfather to Jackson and Greyson.
